Main Steam Line Break (from Hot Zero Power)
PCTRAN/EPR IC8 is initiated for a hot zero power condition with 230,000 lb inventory in each steam generator. Primary pressure is about 2200 psia and temperature about 560 F. The secondary pressure is about 1100 psia. The most negative MTC of –50 pcm/F corresponds to AKMD = -50E-5 /beta-eff = -0.08$/F is used in the input. The steam line break size is 1200 cm2 in the A-side that generates the same 3000 lb/s initial break flow. MSIV at both sides are closed around 10 seconds after break. PCTRAN has one lumped loop for the 3 steam generators in the intact side so that separate MSRT operation is not possible. At about 260 seconds after we depressurize the whole intact side.
The results of all transient variables are quite comparable to the MHI analysis.
